Day Fifteen: Staying up Late

Beside him, Lt. Wilson heard Officer Edwards grunt as he was knocked onto his back. Forgetting about the Robbers inside the building, Wilson quickly crouched beside his fallen comrade. Steve’s suit had burst open at his lower chest revealing red paint, and suddenly it began to speak. “You have 4 Minutes to make it to the hospital, or you will be eliminated.” Immediately Officer Edwards looked up at Lt. Wilson, then got up and bolted northward towards the hospital. Deciding not to take his chances against the two Robbers in the building Wilson took off towards the Police Station calling backup to his location.

The Legend slid down the wall visibly tired and stressed by what had just occurred. Beside him, his companion The Cold Killer was already laying on the floor, paint spilling out of his left shoulder. His suit was telling him that he had Thirty Minutes to get to the hospital, or he would be out of the game. This was obviously posing a problem for “The Cold Killer” Dan Wylie because the Cops would be at the hospital. They had run away, and The Legend had shot at least one of them for sure. So if the Officer wasn’t eliminated already he would for sure be at the hospital waiting. The hospital was a “no gun” area so there was no chance of shooting the place up. The Cold Killer stood, apparently he had made his decision.

The Following is the account of Damien “The Swagger” Lorefice on Day Fifteen

Today was going to be a big day. The Legend and The Cold Killer should be returning soon with the guns that The Architect had found, and that meant they would have basically unlimited guns and ammo for further heists. Later tonight The Menace would be taking a new hideout, while The Muscle led one heist and The Architect led another. Being out of jail, The Swagger was eager to get going with the heists. He still wanted to get Kerley’s Jewelers, the place he had been scoping out the first couple of days, as that’s where he had been arrested. It was a big deal for Damien to prove to his team that he knew about the precious stones at Kerley’s and that his plan would work. He knew that if he hadn’t been arrested they would have already robbed the place and made a great deal of money.

Abruptly, The Legend burst down the stairs with a black hockey bag full of what The Swagger knew were guns. The Swagger saw this as a huge victory for the team as now they would be able to defend themselves, and hopefully strike some fear into the Cops. Soon though, the team realized that The Cold Killer was not with him, and when inquired about it, The Legend told his team that The Cold Killer had been shot and decided to turn himself in at the hospital. “Being in jail is better than being dead” was The Cold Killer’s reasoning, and everyone pretty much agreed with that philosophy. The worse news for the team however was that they would no longer be able to access the gun storage building. In fact, the mystery buildings as a whole would probably be off limits as the Cops would be swarming it from now on.

So with enough guns to protect their soon to be ex-hideout, The Chump and The Muscle set to defending the houses from the main floors. They had some food in the hideout, so they decided that from now on no Robbers would be leaving the hideout until it was time to leave for good. They would stay put and go over their plans to make sure that they made no mistakes. The Swagger listened intently to The Architect’s plans for the two heists, but when he overlooked Kerley’s The Swagger began to insist that they took out the jeweler. He told them how important it was for him, but The Architect and The Menace wouldn’t listen to him. With the deaths of The Wit and The Verdict, and the arrests of The Hutt and The Cold Killer, the team was down to 8 and they had to work together. This was not good enough for The Swagger though, as he already had a detailed plan for Kerley’s, and he was not going to waste it.

After a long debate, The Architect decided to allow The Swagger to do the Kerley’s heist on his own. Three successful heists were better than two, but The Swagger would have to be careful. Because tonight they would be abandoning their hideout, they decided that every person would be involved in the action tonight. The Swagger asked the team if The Drama Queen could go along with him to Kerley’s seeing as she had a personal vendetta against it as well, and begrudgingly The Architect allowed it. Even though The Swagger got what he wanted, he was getting real sick of The Architect trying to lead the team. So it was set. The Menace would take a new hideout all by himself. The Architect, The Stylist and The Chump would take The Money-Mart beside Flower Convenience. The Muscle and The Legend would take Garth’s Printing, and The Swagger and The Drama Queen will take Kerley’s.

After a long day of getting everything ready, and worrying about being attacked, night finally came upon Paradise City. The Robbers waited for the clock to strike 2 am before setting out in groups quietly through the backyard and out the front doors of the three houses making up their hideout. The Swagger, gun in hand, was so excited for what was about to happen. At 2:30 they were all to simultaneously begin their assaults on their respective shops, so as to cause mass confusion if the Cops ever heard anything. Soon enough, The Swagger and The Drama Queen crouched against the side of Kerley’s waiting for 2:30 to happen, looking all around them to make sure there were no Cops in the vicinity. They had their masks ready, but the plan was not to break in the front, but in the back door. Damien’s training before Day One had been in lock-picking and opening safes. When accompanied with his natural knowledge of diamonds and jewelry, he was a very important part of this team.

When 2:30 struck, Damien set to opening up the lock, while The Drama Queen watched his back. The Swagger heard gunshots coming from the direction of the Money-Mart, but kept working diligently on the lock. He heard more shots but they were much closer, and as he turned he saw The Drama Queen stumble as paint poured out of her chest and side. Coming around a corner from the direction of the mystery buildings were three Cops, but Damien was not about to be arrested again. He pulled out his gun, dove to the side and began firing in the direction of the rushing Cops. He hit the Cop he recognized as Officer Eby in the leg, tripping her up. But the other two Cops, Dep. Scott Heidman and Lt. Amanda Maurice were too much for him as Damien’s torso burst open in a series of red explosions.

Eliminated Today Was:
Amanda “The Drama Queen” Fournie, and Damien “The Swagger” Lorefice

A little bummed that Amanda is gone, mostly because it dramatically reduces my chances of another stellar lip-lock.

Allow me to state that this has been another satisfying/vindicating episode. Satisfying; in the sense that the Officers of the Law have reduced to naught another burglary attempt by the robbing team. Vindicating; in the sense that the training (physical/mental) of the officers, combined with a cool and collected psyche (in an intense situation), as demonstrated by the offices, has prevailed over the robber’s newly procured assortment of firearms.

Consider the recurring theme contained within Cops and Robbers: Finesse (…if I may…) and its capacity to trump the use of Force. My friend Pat (from the P.I. contingent of Cops and Robbers) agrees with this observation. In addition he sites the classic philosophy of the Ninja, being skill prevailing over and above force. Also worthy of note (and again courtesy of Pat) is the ‘Pop’ culture example of Halo 2’s Arbiter vs. the Brutes. The Arbiter is elevated over the brutes, as the brutes rely on strength and numbers, while the Arbiter is reliant upon his training as an elite protector of the alien prophets. To be sure, there are many other incidences this theme that the reader could doubtlessly call to mind. In doing so, such a meditation will yield the truth that a dynamic use of ability is superior to brute force in any situation.
The robbers may have new guns, and the element of secrecy with regard to planning a robbery, but the officers possess the upper hand.

come on robbers im doin my job why cant u do yours.. well i guess its just damien, he wouldnt be the best in this game anyways. but its alright guys im still in the game so our team is still gonna do well.

a couple things about the nite:
- damien man u suck at robbing that store
-dan bud no worries ur a smart guy, u'll find a way out of that hospital
- i hope i get a nice place. i would find a amazing house in real life
- one last thing. i think lindsay eby is gonna die. she is known as one who is always getting hurt/sick, so i assume the gun shot will take to much out of her and since shes small the blood loss will be to much for her

Ha, this doesnt look good, i've never really been able to run anywhere in 4 minutes. But alot of action today, how did we figure out they were robbing that store and why were there gunshots before they actually got there. dun dun dun, shananigans.

Oh Mr. Hamilton your mind is so crisp please do not hesitate to hit us with day 16, 2 robbers down for the count. I think the cops are gonna need some other ways of getting money, can we start stealing things?

i'm hoping that the next episode can shed some light on how the cops got on top of the robbers so quickly... not to say however that the sudden escalation in blood sheed is not booing well with the viewers...
